Main Objectives of Agriclinic and Agribusiness Center Scheme

Agri-Clinics are the part of Agriclinic and Agribusiness Centers scheme made by the government and its main purpose is to help and provide expert advice and services to Indian farmers on various aspects.


Agriclinics are made to help the farmers and the people related to farming or agriculture in India to enhance the overall productivity of their crops, help them in animal husbandary and increase the incomes of these farmers.

Agribusiness centers is a part of Agriclinic and Agribusiness Centre's schemes made to help the farmers, agriculture field related people, agriculture sector students get access to various opportunities which will enhance the success factor in their business and career.


So Agri-Business Centers are major commercial units of various agri-ventures established by the trained and educated agriculture professionals under the ACABC scheme. 


These agribusiness centers look after 


1. the maintenance and custom hiring of farm equipment

2.  sale of other inputs and major services in agriculture and allied areas, 

3. post-harvest management and market linkages for income generation 

4. Agro-based entrepreneurship development. 

5. financial support to farmers

6. loan and credit approvals

 

The scheme covers full financial support for training and handholding, provision of loan and credit-linked back-end composite subsidy. 

 

Eligibility criteria for Agriclinic and Agribusiness Centers 


The Agriclinic and Agribusiness Centers scheme is open to following categories of candidates:


Graduates in agriculture and allied subjects from certified SAUs/ Central Agricultural Universities/ Universities recognized by ICAR/ UGC. 

Degree in field of Agriculture and other allied subjects offered by other agencies are also considered subject to approval of Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Government of India on speical recommendation of the State Government.

Diploma (with at minimum 50% marks)/ Post Graduate Diploma holders in field of Agriculture and allied subjects from State Agricultural Universities, State Agriculture and the major Allied Departments and the main State Department of Technical Education.

Diploma in field of Agriculture and allied subjects offered by various agencies are also considered subject to approval of the respected Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Government of India on recommendation of the State Government.

Bio-Science Graduates with Post Graduation in Agriculture & allied subjects.

Degree courses majorly recognized by UGC having more than total of 60 percent of the course content in Agriculture and other allied subjects.

Diploma/Post-graduate Diploma courses with more than 60 percent of course content in Agriculture and allied subjects, after B.Sc. with Biological Sciences, from recognized colleges and universities.

Agriculture related courses at basic or intermediate (i.e. plus two) level, with minimum 55% marks.

Agriclinic and Agribusiness Centers scheme covers full financial support for basic training and handholding, provision of loan and credit subsidy as per the details given in the following section


Project activities under Agriclinic and Agribusiness Centers Scheme


Extension of basic consultancy services

Provision of Soil and water quality cum inputs testing laboratories (with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometers)

Pest control surveillance, diagnostic and services

Maintenance, repairs and custom hiring of agricultural implements and machinery including basic micro irrigation works

Agri Service Centres basically having the three activities mentioned above (Group Activity).

Processing seed Units

Plant Tissue Culture Labs for Micro-propagation and other Hardening Units

Set up of good Vermiculture units, production of basic bio-fertilisers, bio-pesticides, bio-control base agents.

Set up of bee products' and bee processing units

Providing good Extension Consultancy Services

Hatcheries and production of fish finger-lings for aquaculture

Provision of major livestock health cover, setting up the main veterinary dispensaries & services including some good frozen semen banks and liquid nitrogen supply

Setting up of the tech oriented Information Technology Kiosks in rural areas for access to many other agriculture related portals

Testing and feed processing units

Centers to carry out value addition

Set up of Storage Cool Chain from the farm level onwards (Group Activity)

Marketing of retail outlets for the major processed agri-products

Marketing of rural dealerships of the basic farm inputs and outputs


The combination of two or more of the above project activities along with any other economically oriented activity selected by the Graduates is acceptable to the Bank and nothing else.

Irrespective of whether the candidate is a fresh graduate or not, or whether they are currently employed or not, they can easily set up their own AgriClinic or Agribusiness Centre and offer good useful professional extension services to various number of farmers.


The best thing about Agriclinic and Agribusiness Centers scheme is that the Government is now also providing start-up training to graduates in Agriculture, or any other subjects affiliated to Agriculture like Horticulture, Sericulture, Veterinary Sciences, Forestry, Dairy, Poultry Farming, and Fisheries, etc. 


Those students who are completing their training can apply for the basic special start-up loans for venture.
